There’s a million horror movies out there, but when it comes to not being able to look under your bed…. monster movies take the cake. If you’re looking for some late night scares, or just a cheesy horror movie… here are the best creature and monster movies on Netflix right now.
(SWEETHEART) We’ll start out with the highly rated, ‘Sweetheart’, scoring 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. This movie features a nasty, tall… fishlike sea monster. This thing has fins, gills, and even walks. ‘Sweetheart’ stars Kiersey Clemmons, playing a girl named Jenn who gets shipwrecked on a deserted island. Jenn fends for herself to stay alive when she discovers that something is coming ashore every night while she tries to sleep. This movie keeps you on your toes, and you’ll never know what happens next.
(TREMORS: A COLD DAY IN HELL) If you liked the old school Kevin Bacon horror flick ‘Tremors,’ then you might like the 6th film in this enormously long franchise. “Tremors: A Cold Day In Hell’ premiered back in 2018 and features Grabanoids. These worm-like monsters weigh up to 10-20 tons and can be up to 30ft long. These Grabanoids are utilized as bioweapons, and Burt Gummer becomes infected by their venom. In order for Burt to be cured, antibodies need to be extracted from a live Grabanoid.
(STEPHANIE) Next on the list is Stephanie. This movie takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and features a young girl, basically alone in her house… in the middle of the woods. Stephanie is haunted by a Movies on Netflix 1 sweetheart **** 2 tremors: a cold day in hell *** 2018 3 stephanie ** 4 the silence ** 5 killer clowns from outer space* 6 doom * 7 before i wake * 8 pans labrynth * 9 the ritual ** FIVERR JOB DUE MONDAY NIGHT dark creature who mysteriously pays her visits. We don’t see the monster at first in the film, so we’ll keep that part a surprise.
(THE SILENCE) What we won’t keep secret is the pterodactyl-like monsters from ‘The Silence’. In this horror/ thriller, the world is under attack by “veps”, who hunt by sound. This Netflix original has mixed reviews, but its does feature pretty dark looking monsters, so we’ll leave this movie up to you to decide. Let us know what you think.
(KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE) We’re going to throw it back to the 80s real quick, and I think you’ll appreciate it. ‘Killer Klowns From Outer Space’ is a funny 80’s horror movie that features what the name implies. If you are looking for a fright, and are afraid of clowns… well then this IS the movie for you. The clowns in this movie look like something from your parents nightmares. In the movie, these “Klowns” come to terrorize a small town… eating as many people as they can. While this movie might be on the cheesy side, it DELIVERS.
(DOOM) Some might say this next movie is a little cheesy too… but if you’re into that, then DOOM might be perfect for your next Friday night. This one is loaded with stars… from the ROCK to Karl Urban. The monster is this movie is actually a man… injected with alien DNA… who grows muscles so big- even Dwayne Johnson has a hard time comparing with. This monster has the power to turn humans into monsters… just like him.
(BEFORE I WAKE) Ok… we’ll go back to the future now to something a little more relevant haha. “Before I Wake” features child star, Jacob Tremblay who plays Cody in the film. Cody is TERRIFIED to fall asleep. It turns out… he has a superpower. His dreams become reality… but so does his nightmares.
(PAN’S LABRYNTH) Our second to last movie, has done more than deserve a place on this list. Pan’s Labyrinth is award winning, and highly acclaimed. Some debate whether this truly is a horror movie or not, but it’s for sure a dark-twisted fantasy. This movie features several magical creatures, one of the most well-known is The Pale Man. A ghostly white, skinny monster, with eyeballs on his hands. Ofelia is the protagonist in the film and is drawn into the magical world of Pan’s Labyrinth. That’s when these creatures come to play.
(THE RITUAL) We’ll end off the list with a banger. ‘The Ritual’ is a Netflix original that is actually good! This horror/mystery, features a group of friends who venture through the woods on a trip. A strange, evil creature stalks them, and the movie will leave you anxiously awaiting the outcome every minute of the film.
