The Chucky series are American cult horror films. The original horror film series from the 80s were produced and written by Don Mancini. Child Play was the original start of Chucky’s appearance as a former human serial killer, Charles Lee Ray, who escaped death through a voodoo ritual.
His soul was then transferred into a “Good Guys” doll so that he could carry out his years of demented vengeance. The Curse of Chucky was released in 2013. Brad Douriff is the voice of Chucky in this film, as he has portrayed in other Chucky films.
The opening is a dark house where Nica Pierce is confined to a wheelchair and her mother Sarah live. Suddenly Sarah is found stabbed to death which is later ruled a suicide. Upon the settlement of the Will, family members show up at the house.
The characters include Nica’s sister Barb, the husband Ian, and Alice their daughter. There is a live-in nanny Jill and Father Frank. Suddenly Chucky the doll was delivered to the Pierce family without any address label as to who sent it.
Naturally, with the sudden appearance of Chucky, the house begins to develop phone and lighting problems. However, Alice loves Chucky who talks to her noting that life has no meaning and that everyone dies. Alice tells her mother, who asks Alice who is feeding her this trash.
Chucky soon begins his reign of terror as the family prepares to cook a nice bowl of chili where one of the bowls has been laced with rat poison. The first casualty is Father Frank who eats the poisoned bowl of chili and is rushed to the hospital but is decapitated in a car crash.
That night Nica receives a secretive phone call that the Chucky doll has been sitting in an evidence room. She begins to investigate the background of Chucky and finds horrible murders centered around Chucky and Charles Lee Ray.
Chucky as Charles Ray continues his quest to kill the whole family. Chucky enters the room of Jill who is sitting on the side of the bed near a bucket of water that leaked from the ceiling. Chucky tipped over the bucket, electrocuting Jill.
Barb is looking for Alice because she is not in her bed. Barb heads for the attic while holding Chucky. Barb feels something beneath Chucky’s shirt. It is a knife. Chuck becomes animated and stabs Alice in the eye.
Nica hears Barb cry out and step by slow step crawls upstairs. Unfortunately, Nica finds Barb dead but she also sees that Chucky can move and talk as he runs away.
Nica runs downstairs to wake up Ian to tell him everything that has occurred including her research into the Chucky doll. Ian of course does not believe her – at first! Due to a hidden camera, Ian sees that Chucky is animated.
Chucky chops off Ian’s lower jaw as he also approaches Nica to kill her. Chucky has an axe in his hand and strikes Nica in her numbed legs. Nica pulls the axe out of her leg and beheads Chucky. No, Chucky does not die as easily as that.
Chuck reattaches his head. He gets behind her wheelchair to push her over a balcony onto the floor below. Nica does not die but gathers enough strength to ask Chucky aka Charles Ray why is he killing the family.
Through flashbacks, Charles Ray/Chucky shows that he was a family friend who was secretly in love with Sarah who was very pregnant. To have Sarah all to himself, Charles Ray kills her husband. He kidnaps Sarah as his own true love.
Sarah called the police. Feeling betrayed Ray stabs her in the stomach which is why Nica was born a paraplegic. Ray flees from the police which led to his death and reincarnation as Chucky.
Chucky’s nemesis, Andy Barclay appears in the house and ushers Nica into the elevator. Andy disarms Chucky and stabs him, but no Chucky does not die. Officer Stanton who has investigated a previous family member’s death, also appears at the house.
Officer Stanton arrives only to see Nica holding a knife and Chucky sitting on a chair like a doll. Poor Nica is arrested and is confined to a mental asylum. Again, Chucky is placed in the evidence room. An officer is assigned to take Chucky the doll to Nica’s trial as an exhibit.
The officer looks in the car’s rearview mirror to see both Chucky and Chucky’s girlfriend Tiffany laughing in the rear seat. Tiffany cuts the officer’s neck. Years later, Alice is living with grandma. Alice arrives home from school and finds Chucky on the front porch.
Chucky persuades Alice to join him in a voodoo chant called “hide the soul” which is designed to transfer Chucky or Charles Ray into Alice’s body. Grandma was attacked by Chucky where he placed a plastic bag over her head.
Months later, Chucky the doll is now delivered to the adult Andy Barclay’s home. Chucky cuts his way out of the packaging and moves around the house looking to kill Andy.
But Andy was lying in wait for the little demon. Chucky runs into Andy holding a shotgun which he uses to blow Chucky’s head off. This time, at least for now (see Chucky’s Cult as the following horror film) Chucky does not rise up – The End!
